MTNL launch VDSL 2 Services

MTNL is introducing VDSL2 (Very high speed digital subscriber line) service which is next step of ADSL2+, currently being deployed for highest speed broadband service. VDSL standard from ITU-T promise to deliver 100Mbps symmetrical traffic on short copper loops.

This greater bandwidth of VDSL2, given ability to offer advanced services such as multiple stream of interactive standard and high definition TV over IP over the existing copper connection.

In actual field conditions, VDSL2 connection has been tested to give download speed upto 22Mbps and upload upto 6Mbps, within a distance of about one KM.  These speeds will vary based on condition of cable pair & distance.  This is most suitable for corporate customers and business houses where very high speed internet access, HDTV and online gaming service are required.

MTNL has launched VDSL-COMBO plan w.e.f. 30.12.09 which provides Rs. 0.50 per MB download with minimum commitment of Rs. 9000 per month alongwith 18GB free download and Upload charge totally free. One time upfront modem charges are Rs. 3000 and installation   charges Rs. 2000.

Presently MTNL is providing this facility in 15 exchanges and will progressively cover all exchanges.

Launch of MTNL PC Protection Package for its Broadband customers

MTNL is the largest Broadband Service Provider in Mumbai having more than 4,00,000 customers presently. MTNL has introduced many customers oriented plans in last few months which has given comfort to its customers in using best broadband service in the most economical prize.  In another customers friendly step, MTNL is launching PC Protection package on 29-12-2009, which will provide total safety & security to their PCs from Viruses, Spams, it will also give parental control to avoid misuse of net by their wards.  This package will give better performance and unique user experience by way of increased PC speed and easier and faster Malware removal. The package is powered by F-Secure, which is a leading company in PC protection.

The basic package “MTNL PC Protection” will have Antivirus and Antispyware components.  Another package “MTNL PC protection plus” will have spam control, firewall and parental control in addition to components in basic package.  The two packages will cost Rs 60 & Rs 99 per month respectively.  Customer can download package of his choice from MTNL Web Selfcare page using http://register.mtnl.net.in by giving his user id and password.  This package is offered for one month free trail initially after which it can be ordered for regular use or payment basis.

Free benefits from MTNL Mumbai to new prepaid subscribers

MTNL is playing all options to bring new customers under its fold. MTNL is offering free benefits to its prepaid subscribers between 20th Dec ’09 and 5th Jan ’10. Every new prepaid customer will get
100 free SMS,
100 minutes of local video calls and
100 minutes of voice calls to local MTNL and MTNL Delhi networks.

These benefits will be apart from the free offer that could be in different plans. These benefits will have to be consumed within 30 days. One needs to remember that for making video calls, 3G facility from MTNL will be required in case he is opting for normal 2G connection. 3G activation charge is presently Rs 300 for 2G customers. Although after the SIM 80 launch, few customers will choose other plans. SIM 80 benefits both voice and video callers as voice and video call rates are same and it becomes more attractive if pay per sec plan is recharged over this.

Now SMS through web with MTNL’s SMS Portal

SMS is one of the popular applications in mobile telephony after voice. Today’s youth has always been attracted to SMS and it is still a very popular medium of communication even when voice call rates have touched rock bottom. Although many would find typing on mobile a bit taxing still SMS is making waves among youth. MTNL has introduced an innovative SMS service where one could SMS through internet. It has launched sms portal http://sms.mtnlmumbai.in which allows its customers to send SMS through web. Customers can even form groups and send SMS to them and the best part is that recipients cannot make out that SMS is send through web. Subscribers account will be deducted according to SMS charges of his plan.Subscribers will get password by entering mobile number as login id. The password is send to their mobile and they can change the password.

This application provides ease of typing as it is easy to type on computer that on mobile. One can copy content of the text and paste and send to individuals and groups.

MTNL Mumbai promotional offer for Broadband and Landline

Free Installation and 3 Months rent Free for New Landline Connection from 15th Dec 2009 to 14th Jan 2010
MTNL Mumbai has announced waiver of Installation charges of Rs 500 for new landline telephone connection. Under this scheme for customers booking a new landline connection the installation charges of Rs 500 will be waived off. In addition to this the customers also gets waiver of 3 month’s rental. On payment of bills regularly for 9 months, rentals of 10th, 11th & 12th month will be waived off. This offer is available with plans of monthly rental of Rs 150 (only Incoming) and One minute Plan-150,  Rs180, Rs.250 and One India Plans.

No registration and testing charges of Rs.300 for prepaid Broadband customers from 15th Dec 2009 to 14th Jan 2010.

MTNL offers Voice and Video calls @ ½ Paise

Going with the trend MTNL launched per second plans for both prepaid and postpaid subscribers. Presently every operator has introduced per second billing. MTNL has gone a step ahead with announcement of ½ paise per sec for all voice and video calls on MTNL Mumbai and Delhi networks. Voice and video call charges for Local and STD are 1p/sec
MTNL has also slashed SMS and data rates. Local SMS charges are 25p and data rate is 1p/sec. Existing Prepaid subscribers can switch to per second plan by recharging with coupon of Rs 45 which has tariff validity io 365 days. Postpaid subscribers will have to select per sec plan which has monthly rental charges of Rs 149. New postpaid subscribers will be charged Rs 500 as activation charges.

The best part with MTNL is that rates for video calls and data are almost at throwaway prices. With 1p per sec video calling and 1p/10KB , it cannot be more affordable than these.
As customers make merry in this telecom tariff war, companies are bound to bleed with margins getting reduced drastically and with MNP at the doorstep it is difficult to imagine how telecom industry is going to transform.

Bonus Coupon 108 from MTNL

Recently MTNL had launched 3G SIM 80 for new customers which offers voice and video call rates at reduced call rates. The call rates were 20p on MTNL network, both Mumbai and Delhi, 50p on other local networks and 75p for STD calls. Now MTNL is offering similar call rates and benefits to its existing customers through Bonus Coupon 108. The cost of the coupon is Rs 108 with validity of 180 days. Apart from the call rates the key feature of this coupon is that voice and video call rates are similar which will encourage customers to experience video call.

Telecom space, which is marred with intensive tariff war, has forced MTNL to slash video call rates to abysmally low price. Remember, MTNL is the only operator offering 3G services in Mumbai, even then it had to equalize video and voice call rates to attract new customers which has become a Herculean task in present scenario.

MTNL launch Prepaid Broadband in Mumbai

After achieving milestone of 4 Lakhs Postpaid Broadband customer in Mumbai, now MTNL launch prepaid Broadband for Mumbaikars with attractive rates.

Customer may book prepaid Broadband connection on his existing MTNL telephone line. Customer will be charged following amount for registration, activation and router in first bill.

• Wired Router : Rs.1300/- (1000 + 300)
• Wireless Router : Rs.2000/- (1700 + 300)
• For Customer owned router Rs.300/-

Bookings may be done at MTNL’s CSC counters or by dialing 1500.

Initially customer will be given Broadband basic plan with 50MB free download. Within the validity period customer has to recharge his account using any of the following vouchers.

MTNL takes customer friendly initiatives for their Broadband customers in Mumbai

MTNL’s  Triband DSL NU 849 customers were getting free night time unlimited download during the period from 00.00 hrs to 8.00 hrs  i.e from midnight to morning. MTNL has extended the free night unlimited download period from 22.00 hrs to 8.00 hrs. This extended free night unlimited usage is effective from 09-11-2009.

Also MTNL for its Mumbai customers using Triband with DSL_256_kbps unlimited plan has increased speed to 384Kbps without any extra cost. MTNL is in process to launch a new plan with 256 Kbps speed @599/- per month.
